The following individuals will be recognized at the event:
Russell “Rooster” Valentini will receive the Children’s Advocate award for his work with homeless children in the Allentown area. For 20 years he has been an advocate for these children making sure they attend school and are provided with clothing and food. He has been an employee of the Allentown School District for 25 years with his most recent position as homeless educational liaison.
Shoshanna Goldin will be recognized as an Outstanding Young Achiever for her nationally-known project “Energy Epidemic: Teen Perception and Consumption of Energy Drinks.” Through this work she identified the dangerous lack of awareness among teens of the amount of stimulant, side effects and risks of energy drinks with these recommendations presented to the Centers for Disease Control in April 2010. Shoshanna is a senior at Moravian Academy.
Lindsey Rothrock will be presented with the Outstanding Young Achiever award for her volunteer work with Turning Point of Lehigh Valley. She has raised over $2,000 for the nonprofit organization which included collecting donations from local companies, selling “Stop Domestic Violence” bracelets and organizing local fundraisers. Lindsey is a senior at the Lehigh Valley Charter School for the Performing Arts.
Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served and a silent auction will take place during the event.
