WELLER CENTER PRESENTS TOBACCO PREVENTION PROGRAMS TO CHATSWORTH ELEMENTARY STUDENTS

On Monday, October 23, the Weller Health Education Center presented three dynamic educational tobacco programs to 145 students at Chatsworth Elementary School in Chatsworth, New Jersey.

A health educator from the center, with special assistance from puppets Smokin' Joe, In and Ex-Hale--the Lung Sisters, Harry the Heart and Flossie the Tooth helped the younger students learn and understand the effects of tobacco on the heart, lungs and teeth.

Other students examined the dangers of tobacco use to the smoker and those around him with high-impact images and activities that reinforce the consequences of tobacco use. Demonstrations using pig lungs reinforced the negative health consequences associated with tobacco use.
