Read the full article! =============================== NEW PROGRAMS FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS ON DENTAL HEALTH Students learn the importance of their teeth and how to properly take care of them with the help of puppet ‘B.G. Roo’ and student ‘Tooth Heads’. A food trivia game reinforces how important healthy foods are to keep our teeth strong and clean in Tooth Tales, a new program appropriate for students in grades K-2. Learn the fundamentals of good oral health care and how clean, healthy teeth make your body healthy too. Students participate in activities to show the importance of visiting the dentist, healthy eating and proper tooth care in Dental Detectives, a new program appropriate for students in grades 2-4. =============================== PRICING SPECIALS! All schools enrolled in Keystone Healthy Zone are eligible to receive a $2,000 mini-grant to support their initiatives. Annual enrollment is March 1 April 20 and money awarded supports all of Weller’s nutrition and fitness programming for students, parents and teachers. Schools that indicate the intention to use funding to provide Weller programs will enhance their opportunity for receiving the grant. If your school is not enrolled in Keystone Healthy Zone, learn more and sign-up online to get your opportunity to apply for the mini-grant to support Weller programming at your school! =============================== PENN VALLEY STUDENTS LEARN HOW TO BE A GOOD FRIEND On December 14, the kindergarten and first grade students at Penn Valley Elementary School in Lower Merion School District participated in It Takes Practice to be a Friend. The visit to Penn Valley was won by Deb McAllister through a contest held by the Weller Center over the summer. We’re seeking nominations of an individual or school-based program that has made a significant positive impact on children’s health to be recognized at our fifth annual Outstanding Friend to Kids Awards Ceremony. To nominate a teacher, administrator or program from your school district, download a nomination form to view eligibility guidelines and instructions. The deadline for nominations is March 30, 2007.
