Before or after-school program designed to get kids moving and understanding the importance of healthy eating.
PowerUP, grades 3 – 5, 16-week Before- or After-School Program (two 45-minute sessions per week)
During this 16-week program students will participate in age‐appropriate fitness activities where they learn and practice the fundamentals of safe exercise as well as activities that increase the heart rate. In addition to improving physical activity, balance and coordination, activities will also help participants develop flexibility, muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance. These activities will include cooperative learning, fitness concepts, an understanding of the balance of energy in/energy out and nutrition talks. Students will be taught to self‐monitor and self‐assess their progress throughout the program and following the program.
